Why This Page Has No Prices On It
Prices move. Material costs change, fuel changes, and a number typed into an article stays wrong for years after it stops being true.
So instead of a figure that will age badly, here is how the price is built, and where to get today's exact one. Every product on this site has its live price on its own page, and the estimator on our home page will show you the complete total, including delivery and tax, before you order anything.
That is the actual answer to "how do I get an instant price for bulk materials": you enter the material, the amount, and your address, and you see the number. No call, no waiting for a quote.
What Makes Up the Price
The material, per cubic yard. This is the biggest piece, and it varies a lot by product. Screened soils and decorative rock sit at the top. A structural fill sits near the bottom. Two products that look similar in a photo can be very different to produce, which is where most of the spread comes from.
How much you order. Larger quantities cost less per yard. The break points are built into the pricing, so you see the better rate automatically rather than having to ask for it.
How you take it. Loading your vehicle at the yard costs less than putting it on a truck and driving it to you. That gap is the delivery.
Where it is going. Delivery is worked out from the drive time between our yard and your address, so a job across town and a job an hour out are not charged the same. We deliver up to 300 km from Prince George.
Tax. GST applies to everything. PST depends on the product, and several soils and mulches are PST exempt. The estimator applies the right ones for what is in your cart, so the number you see is the number you pay.
Where the Savings Actually Are
If you are trying to bring a bulk material bill down, these are the levers that move it, in rough order of size.
- Get the depth right. Depth is a straight multiplier on the whole order. Ordering 6 inches where 3 would do doubles the material cost of the job. This is the biggest and most commonly missed saving.
- Order in one go. One larger delivery beats several small ones, both on the per-yard rate and on the delivery.
- Use the right product for each layer. A deep fill under a lawn does not need to be garden soil. Sandy Fill underneath and good soil on top costs a fraction of good soil all the way down, and grows the same grass.
- Pick it up if it is a small job. Under two yards, the truck in your driveway is usually the cheaper option. Delivery or pickup walks through where that line falls.
- Measure before you order, not after. A second small delivery to finish a job costs more than the material it carries.
Contractor Pricing
If you buy regularly, there is a contractor rate. It applies automatically to your account rather than being something you have to remember to ask for at the counter.
